Cyberpunk Now

The Cyberpunk Now blog is a reflection on the changes of technology today and the degree to which the dystopian world depicted in the literature of the ’80s has come true. Equally important, how has the vision originally expressed in the works of that time shaped the growth of technology and become a lens through which we view it today?

I want to look less at particular works of literature, but rather at the zeitgeist that existed at one point in time that no longer exists today. I can remember when it was all new and punk and gritty and exciting, even as I knew that the future would only dimly resemble the vision of that time. This is a reflection on where we ended up with an eye towards where we might be headed next.
